The route · where attendees fly from

Where most legs originate

GP-weekend empty legs follow the money into Nice — overwhelmingly out of London, the rest of the UK and the European capitals, then the short hop down to the principality.

Getting in · the part nobody tells you

You don't land in Monaco — you land at Nice

Monaco has no runway. Everyone routes through Nice Côte d'Azur, and when Nice fills over GP weekend the smart move is knowing the reliever fields before you need them.

LAND HERE Where you actually land

  • LFMNNice Côte d'Azur — the gateway. 22 km from Monaco; helipad on-site for the hop across.
  • LNMCMonaco heliport (Fontvieille) — the 7-minute arrival point. Heli only; no fixed-wing.
  • ROADBy car it's 30 minutes clear, 60+ in GP-weekend traffic along the Basse Corniche.

WATCH OUT When Nice books out — the relievers

  • LFMDCannes-Mandelieu — light & midsize only, ~35 min from Monaco. First fallback.
  • LFTZLa Môle (St-Tropez) — small, scenic, further out.
  • LFTHCuers · Toulon-Hyères — overflow parking when the coast is full.

Plan it like this

Jet to Nice, fly the last leg

Fly into Nice for the choice of aircraft and reliable handling, then helicopter across so GP-weekend road traffic never touches your schedule. You're in the principality seven minutes after wheels-down.

Jet → LFMN Nice
Heli → 7 min to LNMC
Land → Fontvieille, Monaco

Questions · Monaco Grand Prix specifics

Good to know before you book

Can I fly a private jet directly into Monaco?
No — Monaco has no airport. You fly into Nice Côte d'Azur (LFMN), 22 km away, and cross by helicopter (7 minutes) or road. The only aircraft that land in Monaco itself are helicopters, at the Fontvieille heliport.
Which airport should I fly into?
Nice for choice and on-site helicopter handling. Over GP weekend Nice fills, so Cannes-Mandelieu (light/midsize) is the first reliever, with Cuers, Toulon-Hyères and La Môle as overflow.
How do I get from Nice to Monaco?
The standard is a 7-minute helicopter to Fontvieille with Monacair or Blade — around €160–195 per seat or ~€700 to charter the cab. By road it's 30 minutes clear, but 60+ in GP-weekend traffic.
When should I book?
Charter and hotels: months ahead. Empty legs, by contrast, appear 4–12 weeks out and move within minutes, so the reliable play is a route alert rather than waiting and watching.
Is an empty leg guaranteed for my exact dates?
No — repositioning flights are opportunistic, and GP weekend is the busiest of the year. Set a route alert for the best odds; if you need certainty, a full charter into Nice is always available.
